Managing diabetes isn’t just about daily routines; it’s also about staying on top of regular check-ups and screenings. These include tests to monitor your blood sugar levels over time, like the HbA1C test, Random, post meals or Fasting blood sugar levels.
Checking for complications, such as
1) eye exams to detect diabetic retinopathy annually.
2) Kidney function tests & Urinalysis for urine protein and how diabetes affects the kidneys.
3) Foot exams to prevent ulcers or infections and check for nerve damage because of glucose, if any.
4) Heart examination through ECG and further testing if required.
5) Cholesterol tests
6) Liver checks with Ultrasound or Fibroscan for fatty liver
7) Adult vaccinations for influenza, pneumonia, hepatitis, herpes zoster as indicated.
8) Other assessments as needed.
These will be required as per the suggestion by your doctor over time.
